Moisin-Nagant, Model 1895, New England Westinghouse mfg., UNISSUED- NON-IMPORT
Description: Moisin-Nagant, MANUFACTURED IN THE USA BY NEW ENGLAND WESTINGHOUSE COMPANY IN MERIDAN, CT, bolt action rifle, Model 1895, caliber 7.62X54R, s/n 1255109 (ALL MATCHING SERIAL NUMBERS), Mfg. date marked on receiver is 1915 although all rifles produced between 1915 and 1918 have the 1915 date on them, METAL AND WOOD ON THIS RIFLE ARE IN 100% UNISSUED CONDITION, BORE IS MINT, rifle exhibits no import marks, ORIGINAL RAMROD, it is our belief that this rifle never left the USA but was one held here after Russia renegged on their American contract, barrel is stamped with US "flaming bomb" and "eagle" proof mark, barrel also stamped with Russian crest and a couple of Russian letter marks which we cannot intrepret (two of these marks are stamped over the "15" in the barrel date- these may be marks by a Russian inspector if there was one in the Westinghouse plant), WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE THAT MOISIN COLLECTOR SPECIALISTS CAN GIVE US REGARDING THESE MARKS OR ANY OTHER INFORMATION ON THIS RIFLE), Stock is stamped "US" over "flaming bomb" on bottom in front of trigger guard, stock is also stamped with the "English Cointract" marking in a circle on the right side of the butt AND THE SAME STRANGE RUSSIAN MARK AS FOUND ON THE BARREL, matching numbered buttplate exhbits evidence of rifle sitting leaning back in a rack for a prolonged period which has produced pitting only on the butt portion of the buttplate and not the center area or toe, THIS 100 YEAR OLD MOISIN IS TRULY EXCEPTIONAL AND BELONGS IN A MUSEUM OR SERIOUS MOISIN-NAGANT COLLECTION, Retail value $1500.00 plus, Sale priced at $1295.00 We cater to first time GI buyers.
