Description:
This is a 1944 Tula original PU sniper rifle. This PU Sniper 91/30 was imported by Tulsky. Matching numbers include receiver, barrel shroud, bolt, magazine floorplate, and buttplate. This serial number of P463 is also elctropenciled on the scope mount. The scope serial number is also elctropenciled on the scope mount. As seen in the pictures, barrel shank does have "Ch" sniper mark.
The stock is an original PU stock with mid-to-late World War II escutcheons.
Our research indicates this scope to be a Factory #357 NKV Leningrad/Omsk ("Progress") scope. Markings find the DOM to be 1943. There are markings to indicate that the scope has been arsenal refurbished. Turrets are retaining factory grease, even in the screw slots. Scope cover (as well as original scope packaging materials), and scope caps are included. We observe that the original packing materials are still intact around the lenses.
Combined with the amount of arsenal lubrication, this indicates that this rifle has been unfired since importation. This would also be confirmed by the owner of this collection we've acquired. All of the PU rifles the owner acquired were removed from the importation shipping container. To be clear, we are not making a claim that this rifle has been unfired; we are making the claim that it has been unfired since importation.
The bore of this rifle has no pitting or corrosion that we see present. We see strong rifling and what appears to be a fair amount of older grease. The crown of the barrel is in the white as seen in the bullet test photograph. This rifle passes the bullet test at the muzzle very well.
Cleaning rod is present. We'll also include original packaging materials received.
This rifle's present condition is exactly as it was when it was imported. Given the absence of more imports of these due to supply and usage even today in parts of the world, it is clear that this rifle is an extremely rare find, especially considering the condition it is in.
