How often is serial number 3 of any firearm available to the collector? This item was part of the order for military arms ordered from Remington by Russia prior to WWI. This rifle is in original condition. The bolt and metal slots for the sling show loss of finish. The butt plate is turning to patina but still retains about 40% of the blue finish. The barrel and receiver retain better than 90% of the factory blue finish. The wood stock shows excellent grain and color. There is a crack on the left side of the butt-stock near the butt plate showing a missing sliver – this is shown in a listing picture. Wood also shows various handling marks; a light coat of finish protectant was likely applied. The bore is shiny with excellent rifling. I believe the caliber is 7.62x54R; caliber is not stamped on this firearm. There is no corrosion on this item. Photos of specific areas of this item can be requested by prospective buyers.
