Very Rare WWII Polish 91/98/25 Bolt Action Carbine 8mm Mauser Mosin Nagant All Matching
Description: These are super rare guns! This one retains 85% original finish overall. All numbers are matching, the only lined out “force matched” number being on the floorplate. All markings are clear. Stock has some dings and handling marks. Fine mechanical function. Properly marked on the left side of the hexagonal receiver. The stock is marked ZBR.2.3.34. Bore is dirty with strong sharp rifling. Missing the rear barrel band screw, as well as the cleaning rod. These very rare guns were Polish captured Russian Mosin Nagant rifles from the 1919-1921 Polish-Bolshevist War, that were then reoutfitted with a 98k style Mauser front and band bayonet lug, and appropriately shortened to about the same length of a standard German Mauser 98. This gun appears to retain the original Russian barrel that was then rechambered for the 8mm Mauser cartridge, the bolt face being modified as well. About 77,000 of these guns were made in 3 different configurations, the 91/98/23 which utilized the original Mosin spike bayonet, the 91/98/25 which used the Mauser or Polish bayonets, and then the 91/98/26 model which featured an improved ejector system. The model 91/98/25 was only produced for one year. Initially the kbk wz. 91/98/23 (and its later modifications) was pressed into Polish service as a standard service carbine of the Polish Cavalry mounted artillery and military police. It was also issued to the 80th Infantry Regiment of the 20th Infantry Division. However, by 1929 it was mostly replaced in active units with the wz.29 carbine. The remaining guns were then supplied to the State Police, Border Guard, and some units of the National Defence. At the outbreak of World War II and the German and Soviet invasion of Poland there were still some 76,400 pieces left in Polish inventory, most of them were destroyed during the war. All in all, this is a very hard gun to find, and especially in all matching condition with finish on it! Considered a Holy Grail type gun by many collectors.
