Description: MOSSBERG & Sons Model 151M(b) .22 LR RF Semi-Automatic Rifle C&R w/SCOPE Introduced Post-WORLD WAR II in 1946 Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R O.F. Mossberg & Sons Inc. Model 151M(b) Semi-Automatic Rifle fitted with a Cadet Optics SPI 4x15 Scope, chambered in .22 Long Rifle Rimfire, made circa 1948 to 1954 in New Haven, Connecticut. This example was the top model of their .22 caliber semi-automatic rifles. The 151M was introduced in 1946 and was an improvement over the Model 51M which was a pre-war model. The 151M was followed in 1947 by the 151M(a), the 151M(b) in 1948, and the 151M(c) in 1954. The Model 151M had the steel butt plate, as the (a), (b), and (c) had hard rubber. This semi-automatic autoloader was sold not only within the United States, but also overseas. Many young boys woke up on Christmas morning with their eyes beaming as they opened up their first rifle! They would have learned how to shoot with this rifle, including squirrels, rabbits, tin cans, and everything in between. The overall condition is good. Original finish on the barrel and receiver. The wood has been refinished and is in very good shape. Shiny bright bore with strong rifling. Excellent action. Markings are clear. The optic has a crisp reticle with a slightly clouded sight picture, but is almost negligible. Own the original! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 20 inches.
