We offer you a “TARGET” Mossberg Model 144LSB .22 Rifle with Heavy Barrel and Sights.

This 144 was the last generation manufactured by Mossberg from 1979 to 1985. It features a 27 ¼” heavy target barrel, the new at the time Mossberg S311 aperture receiver sight with a Lyman globe front. They also came with the hand stop, grooved receiver for optic use and an adjustable trigger. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number “591492”. The top of the barrel is marked “O.F. MOSSBERG & SONS INC. / NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. / AC KRO GRUV / MODEL 144LSB 22 LONG RIFLE ONLY”. The left side of the rear sight is marked “MOSSBERG S331”. The right side of the magazine is marked “”LR-ONLY”.
 When the rifle was found there was light surface rust on the left side of the barrel which was cleaned off. That did result in an area down the barrel of freckling as shown. There is also a spot at the muzzle as pictured. The rest of the bluing is in excellent condition as you can see. The trigger guard looks to be factory but a replacement from another gun. There is a dab of red paint above the hole that once held the red insert indicating fire. The green safe insert is missing as well. The Walnut Benchrest style stock is in excellent condition with some marks and light dings from use. The bore on the rifle is excellent with no issues and the rifle was test fired and functions just fine. It has the one original magazine with it and will make someone an excellent target .22 rifle.
Many of our estate firearms have been stored for some time and a thorough cleaning and inspection is recommended.
