.45 Cal. Flintlock Appalachian Poor Boy Mountain Rifle, NO FFL
Description: .45 Cal. Flintlock Appalachian Poor Boy Mountain Rifle. Built by Contemporary Gun Maker Rick Baker, CLA Member. The barrel is an unmarked 32.25" .45 cal. Barrel, 7/8th across the flats. The barrel has a 1-36 twist. Total length of the rifle is 48" with a length of pull of 13.75". The lock is a L&R Classic Lock which is L&R's version of the Siler Lock. The Trigger pull is set at about 1 pound or less. This rifle touches off really easily. The Rifle is made in the Poor Boy Mountain Style. The Poor Boy Style Butt Plate is steel which covers the bottom of the Butt and the Toe. The Crown of the Butt is protected by Moose Leg Bone. The touch hole is drilled and crowned in the perfect position for quick ignition. The rifle weights only 7.5 pounds. The stock is straight grained Sugar Maple. The reason I'm selling this rifle for about half what I would normally sell my rifles for, is the stock was damaged in shipping. If you look at the last picture, you can see a crack forward of the trigger guard. The crack runs behind the lock and through the wrist. I used a syringe and injected an industrial epoxy into the crack. I completely saturated the crack with the epoxy and clamped it for 3 days. The result is a repair which is stronger than the wood would be originally. The repair will NEVER come apart. I pulled and yanked on the stock every way from Sunday, the stock is solid. However, it's there, so I discounted the rifle. I think the looks of the repair came out fairly well. It would be hard to see if you didn't know it was there. I bore-sighted the rifle for windage. Your adjustments should be minimal (mostly elevation). I installed a flint that was hand knapped in the 1700's in the jaws of the cock. This rifle should be an excellent shooter. No FFL. It's up to you to know your own local laws' Shipping 49$. Includes insurance and signature delivery lower 48. I accept Cash, Personal Check, Cashiers Check, MO, Post Office MO, Visa/MC, and PayPal.
