From a mid-west sale, a percussion rifle 40 cal. At the sale they said this rifle originally came from Ohio. The beautiful Tiger Stripe maple wood is excellent with no chips or deep scratches however the gun has some small dings & dents as well as a crack in the wood from the back of the lock heel plate. This crack is superficial, is only on the right side of the stock and does not extend through the stock as the stock is rock solid with no flex of any kind (see photos). Metal finish is good and has a mellowed to a nice brown patina (see photos). The back action lock, functions as it should including half cock, is not marked and has a strong hammer spring. The adjustable set trigger works perfectly. The octagon barrel is 36" long and is 1" across the flats. The barrel has a semi-buckhorn rear sight and a German Silver front blade both mounted in dove tails (see photos). Although I have not cleaned this gun the bore looks excellent with deep and well defined rifling. The trigger guard, crescent butt plate and side plate are brass and are undamaged (see photos). The barrel is stamped "LEY. NELSON & CO." at the muzzle. (see photos). I am far from an expert, but everything on this rifle looks original and correct to me. Therefore, I am offering it with a 100% satisfaction guarantee, if it does not live up to your expectations in any way return it for a full and speedy refund including your return shipping (see my feedback).
