Description:
Custom Plains rifle, full stock tiger maple in 58 caliber. Octoganol rifled barrel 33-1/2” long, 1” across the flats; 1:80 twist; single trigger with a 13” LOP. OAL 48-3/8”. The Siler lock is engraved by the maker, along with the handmade brass patch-box, handmade raised relief German silver scroll inlay, and handmade engraved silver eagle/hawk cheek-piece inlay.
The stock is relief carved throughout with numerous gold wire inlays. The barrel has double silver bands at both ends and is extensively engraved with many hidden “faces”. There is also a silver heart inlaid in the bottom of the stock.
I chose not to polish the brass or silver and instead allowed a light patina to form on the rifle. I have shot it dozens of times.
The only non-original part is the front sight; originally a silver blade brazed onto an Indian head penny base. The base came loose and I replaced the sight with what you see.
I watched this beautiful rifle being built from scratch c 1984. The maker, A Della Ghelfa (signed bbl) is a senior member (gusd) of the American Longrifle .
Price $4,750 plus shipping. Rifle will be shipped in a hard case along with separate ramrod. Additional parts/accessories shipped separately.
