50 cal. Flintlock Rifle
Description:
The design of this rifle follows a drawing by Wm Buchele, 1966. (author of "Recreating The American Longrifle"). The design is similiar to a Littlestown School Fredrick Sell rifle shown on page 413 of "Thoughts on the Kentucky Rifle in its Golden Age", published by George Shumway. The stock is hand carved from a curly maple blank. The hardware consists of a large Siler flintlock and a 42"long x 7/8 octagon x 50 caliber barrel. The barrel is either a Montana or an Orion barrel. All brass fittings are hand made, the butt plate and trigger guard are sand castings. This rifle was built in 1989 and remains unfired. The brass has a natural patina due to age. The lock has a polished finish, the barrel finish is plum brown. The stock has some minor dings and dents from normal handling over the years. The wood has a light colored mineral spot about 1/2" diameter, between the toe plate and trigger guard. The trigger pull is 13 1/2", drop at the heel is 3 3/4" and 57 1\4" OAL. The stock was stained with a traditional Aqua Fortis stain and oil finished. Price $2500.00 / make offer. Buyer to pay actual shipping, est $80.00. Prefered payment method is electronic transfer ( Zell, Cash App)
