Contemporary flintlock Longrifle .50 caliber
Description:
Up for your consideration is a contemporary Longrifle in the Christian Springs PA style.
The 42" straight .50 cal. Barrel is stocked into a nice curly maple stock. It is fired by a L and R Queen Anne flintlock with English style engraving and left in the white.
All furniture is brass.
The hickory rammer has a threaded sleeved brass small end to take the cleaning tools found in the toe plate box. This hinged toe plate holds three tools to clean the barrel and is engraved with a folk art Delaware warrior.
The side opening brass patchbox is of my own design and is inspired by those used by Christian Oerter. The lid is engraved with a folk art Moravian settler holding his Bible in one hand and the rifle in the other. The head of the box inlay is engraved with "The Tree of Life".
The carving on the stock is in the Germanic style of the early rifles built in the shop.
The stock was blushed first with Aqua Fortis and then stained with a warm red color.
The rifle represents a newly made piece from the well known rifle shop at Christian Springs PA and will well suit the traditional hunter and/or the historical re enactor.
