Pedersoli Model S.210 Kentucky Long Rifle, Flintlock Muzzleloader, .45 Caliber (REPRODUCTION)
Description:
I believe this Pedersoli Kentucky Long Rifle to be Pedersoli’s Model S.210. There is no model listed on the rifle, and it is some years old (not sure how many). I have exchanged email with Pedersoli customer service in Italy, and they are researching it and will get back to me in a few days. Regardless, the rifle is a .45 caliber rifled flintlock muzzleloader with a 35 9/16-inch hexagon barrel with eight rifling grooves and a twist ratio of 1:48. The stock is made of walnut and is accented with various brass parts – butt plate, trigger guard, muzzle cap, ramrod pipes (thimbles), and patchbox. The stock is also decorated with brass studs along the rights side of the stock and along both sides of the forends. I am not sure if these are factory installed, but the design and placement of the studs look professional. The total weight of the rifle is 6 pounds, 14.4 ounces, and its overall length is 50 3/16 inches. There are no box, papers, or accessories with this rifle. The current price of a new Model S.210 is about $1,100.
The rifle stock has several hairline cracks – one on the right side of the stock (at the top) where the right point of the brass butt plate meets the wood, one at the top rear of the lock plate that runs to the tang, and one on the left side of the stock where the left point of the brass butt plate meets the wood. A few of the brass studs along the left side of the forend caused few more very small cracks in the wood. All cracks are visible in the photos. Despite the cracks, the stock is solid. There appears to be no danger of the cracks getting worse or any part of the stock splitting off. However, I believe, if desired, the cracks can be further arrested and the stock reenforced with a few small dowels. The finish on the stock is in excellent condition, with a very few small dents where the wood was bumped. The ramrod is present, but the musket ball puller (screw on the bottom of the ramrod) is broken off. Also, the brass cap at the top of the ramrod is missing and has been replace is a .38 Special cartridge case. There are no other cracks, gouges, or other signs of wear to the wood. All the metal parts of the rifle are in excellent condition. There is no rust on the gun.
