This .50 Cal Tanegashima Matchlock Musket is a reproduction which has a 41-3/8” browned octagon smooth bore barrel with Original Style sights. The bore is clean and shiny. The Select Hardwood stock is mounted with brass furniture. These were not shoulder-fired weapons, so they do not have a provision to brace the stock against one’s body. This refined matchlock musket utilizes a lock and trigger mechanism. The braided cord is known as the “slow match”, which would have a burning ember at the end. The slow match is held by the spring-loaded arm known as the “serpentine”. The serpentine is put into the cocked position when ready to fire and the hinged cover moved from over the flash pan. A simple pull of the trigger plunges the serpentine and the slow match into the flash pan, detonating the charge within the gun. Length of pull is 6-5/8”, overall: 54-1/4”, Weight is: 8.02 lbs. Condition: Good. Maker Unknown.
Our stock number is P-36-98.
Will ship to anywhere in the United States. Buyer pays freight and insurance.
