BURL WALNUT SPECIAL EARLY THOMPSON-CENTER .54 CALIBER PERCUSSION HAWKEN RIFLE
Description: HIGH GRADE BURL WALNUT IN THIS EARLY THOMPSON-CENTER .54 CALIBER PERCUSSION HAWKEN RIFLE, #2XXX. This is a very unusual rifle as the 30" barrel is stamped within a banner "ROUND BALL - TWIST 1:66.'' Standard length was 28". I have never seen this marking before ona T/C Hawken. Production of these began around 1970 and this must be from the first couple years of production. Obviously, a special rifle as the walnut mainly in the butt stock would be graded "presentation" grade and is dark and burly. Brass mounted, duble set triggers, engraved case colored lock plate, adjustable rear sight and appears to have had the correct tang sight mounted at one time. Overall appears to have seen very limited to almost no use. Bright exc. bore etc. All made in the U.S.A. and the highest quality. A most unusual and beautiful example!
