NEF Handi Rifle SB2 – The Budget Classic – .22 Hornet – Break Action Single Shot
For sale is a New England Firearms (NEF) Handi Rifle SB2 break-action single-shot rifle, chambered in the classic varmint cartridge .22 Hornet. This rifle is in good used condition and represents a now-discontinued and increasingly collectible firearm. At one time considered the cheapest and best way to get into centerfire rifles in non-standard cartridges, NEF Handi Rifles have become collector's items since Remington discontinued the NEF line and parts have become harder to find.
This Handi Rifle features a 22-inch barrel, a wood stock (no buttplate or buttpad – the stock has some scratches, especially on the right-hand side), and a blued finish that is starting to fade and wear off of the receiver and barrel. The front blade sight has been removed, and a Weaver rail has been installed for optics mounting. The original rear sight is still included, but it is rendered basically unusable as it cannot be seen due to the Weaver rail. The overall length is 38 inches.
Function & Mechanical Condition: This rifle is fully functional. The action is crisp and works perfectly – it opens, closes, shoots, and ejects perfectly. There are no sling studs and the buttplate/buttpad is missing, but the rifle is still perfectly usable as-is. The rifle is technically ambidextrous due to its incredibly simple mechanical design.
