Newton Model 1916 .30-06 Buffalo, New York Manufactured, Lyman Peep, Bausch & Lomb Scoped.
Description: Newton Model 1916 .30-06. This rifle is fairly original With the exception of the bridges being drilled for the scope base and having a Lyman 1A peep sight at the rear of the bolt screw. The sling swivels may also be a replacement, though they are true to the period. The action is clean with good blue, drilled for a Lyman peep on the right side of the action, Lyman 1A peep is mounted at the end of the bolt body and functions as it should with all parts present, 1 panel chequered bolt, set trigger is nice and functions as it should. These are take down rifles that take down via lowering the floorplate which is hinged and simply unscrewing the main bolt by using the floorplate as a handle, then lifting the barreled action out of the stock. The scope is a Bausch and Lomb Balvar 8 that has clear optics. It is mounted on a Kuharsky Bros of Erie, Pa elevation and windage adjustable sight. The barrel is 24" with a clean bore and blue, top of barrel is marked Newton Arms Co Inc Buffalo NY and has the two circles at each end indicating Segmental rifling, Caliber is marked as .30 USG, Barrel band front sight. The stock is original with no cracks behind the rear tang, chequering and finish are very good with light handling marks, 13" length of pull from the rear trigger to a Newton steel butt plate. 8lbs 1oz.
