"Albini-Braendlin British Trials Rifle by William Powell & Son (AL5124)
Description: "Albini-Braendlin British trials rifle by William Powell & Son. Overall length is approximately 48½". The 30½" round .577 centerfire caliber barrel has an excellent bore. Barrel has approximately 95% original blue. The bands have approximately 25% blue with the remainder a brown patina. The lock and receiver have some original case colors visible. The brass nose cap, trigger guard, and butt plate are fine. The stock is fine with sharp edges and no chips or cracks. There are a handful of handling dents with most on the right butt stock. The barrel has the unusual Birmingham proofs and caliber (25) marks. Lock is marked “Wm. Powll & Son". The breechblock front has a crown with “A&B" inside. On the top it is marked “Albini/ &/ Braendlin’s/ Patent/ No. 52". William Powell and Son have been in business since 1847 in Birmingham. Action functions correctly, and an original sling is present. This rifle, as indicated by the No. 52 on the breechblock, is undoubtedly one of the many British Trials rifles of the early cartridge era. It also comes with the original front sight cover. Don’t confuse this with the common Belgian Albini-Braendlin! If you’re into British Trials rifles or early cartridge centerfire rifles, this one is for you! This is the only one we have ever seen.
