**SOLD** Remington 40-X Rangemaster Bolt Action Training Rifle in .22 Long Rifle **U.S. Marked - Mfg 1961**
Description: Presented here is a very nice Remington 40-X Rangemaster bolt action training rifle in .22 long rifle caliber. Manufactured for the domestic law enforcement/tactical/target market, this rifle represented the best of its type when it was manufactured in the mid-1950s through the 1970s. The 40X could be fitted with precision aperture iron sights or with a variable telescopic sight. It is estimated that only about 700 were produced. The rifle is equipped with a large globe front sight and receiver mounted Redfield Olympic target sight. There is a scope rail mounted on the barrel and rear of the receiver. The stock is the standard heavy walnut prone-style and the forend has the black anodized hand stop rail. The one piece stock is smooth walnut with pistol grip. The 28 inch heavy target barrel has a good bore with strong rifling. The stock has a few minor pressure marks but nothing serious and the metal has a little high edge wear and a few marks on the trigger guard. The black anodized hand stop rail has lost some finish over the years. This fine Remington would be an excellent bench rest rifle or a strong addition to a collection of precision bolt actions.
