Remington 600 and 600 Mohawk rifles were “guide" type rifles that shot very well, they just weren’t overly attractive.
These rifles were rugged and functional and did the job for which they were designed.
The 600 Monhawk was produced from 1972 – 1979.
Our rifle is serial number 6533663 and, based on the KW barrel code, would have been produced in 1972.
The 600 Mohawk has an 18.5 inch solid (not vent rib) barrel, an adjustable rear sight and a fixed, brass bead front sight.
These rifles were available in a few different calibers but ours is chambered for 308 Win.
The action is fed by a 4 round internal magazine.
The bolt handle is a dog leg style.
A manual safety is at the rear, right side of the bolt.
The stock is a checkered pistol grip type.
The bolt on this one cycles smoothly.
The trigger has a clean break with no take up.
The bore appears to be good and the barrel is bright.
The wood is in mostly Good condition, although is does have the typical dings from normal use.
There is, however, a semi-recent chip on the cap of the pistol grip.
We’ve included a photo to show that.
The black, Remington buttpad is in Excellent condition.
The metal finish is in Fair – Good condition.
There is some finish loss on the underneath side of the barrel.
We did observe some surface oxidation on the rear and front sight.
It appears to wipe off so we believe it is nothing more than on the surface.
Overall, this particular rifle typifies the intent of the 600 Mohawk . . . it’s rugged and functional.
While not extremely rare, neither do we see a large number of these rifles on the market.
If a vintage Remington is what you’re after, check this one out and see if it fits what you need.
Purchase is for the rifle only.
No other items or accessories are included.
This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test fired this rifle.
We have performed our function checks and find no mechanical issues to report.
Cosmetic issues are addressed above.
As with all pre-owned firearm purchases, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the rifle.
