REMINGTON MODEL 1903/A4 SNIPER
Description: SCARCE ‘’Z’’ PREFIX U.S. WWII REMINGTON MODEL 1903/A4 SNIPER Only 2,920 EVER MFG’d! SN Z4002751, BARREL ‘’RA 9-43’’, original barrel with mint bore gauging at only 1 1/2 with most matching Remington "R" marked parts. This 1903 A4 comes complete with original matching early "DMC" sales receipt. Shipped and re-arsenaled at Anniston Army Depot Anniston, AL. DCM document dated 1-99 (JANUARY, 1999). Original WWII ‘’RA, FJA, ORD WHEEL CARTOUCHED & ‘’CIRCLE P’’ PROOFED FULL-PISTOL GRIP STOCK! It is also ‘’AA’’ cartouches on the stock. NOTE: The full history of this sniper is on the ‘’DCM’’ document and stock markings. Original WWII ‘’M73B1’’ scope rings and Redfield base with factory targeting shims. ALL BEAUTIFUL! This rifle shows to be unfixed and unissued after leaving Anniston Army Arsenal storage. Book Reference: All book references will be from the (2) fine books by Peter R. Senich Book *We will list these in descriptions as Book #1 ‘’US Marine Corp Sniper-Scout World War II and Korea’’ OR Book #2 ‘’The Complete Book of U.S. Sniping’’! Reference examples in our descriptions will therefore be (Book #1 page 10) or (Book #2 page 10). The ‘’Z’’ Serial Number range went from only Z 4,000,000 to only Z 4,002,920! Also this Historical Sniper still not only retains it’s Factory original WWII ‘’RA 9-43’’ Barrel but even more remarkably, has a Mint Bore. RECEIVER MARKINGS: The front receiver ring is perfectly and correctly marked ‘’U.S. over REMINGTON over MODEL 03-A3’’. *FYI: A very Important FACT is that All Original Remington Model 1903A4 Snipers were marked exactly this way! The BIG distinction between a Model 1903A3 and a Model 1903A4 Sniper is the FACT that the markings on the Original Model 1903A4 Snipers were stamped Totally on the left side just above the stock and vent hole then the Serial Number of ‘’Z4002751‘’ was stamped totally on the far right side leaving a plain space ‘’gap’’ in the center of the top receiver! *WHY WAS THIS DONE ON ONLY THIS VARIATION? This special stamping arrangement left the Remington Factory room to install the ‘’Redfield’’ Sniper Scope Base and still be able to read all the Nomenclature and SN’s! The ‘’03-A3’’ markings were left just in case any intended Model 1903A4 Sniper did not it also appears to still have the majority of its Matching Remington ‘’R’’ marked parts including its Original Remington ‘’Sniper’’ Complete Bolt Assembly that is ‘’R’’ marked on not only its bolt handle arm but also on its Safety Housing and Safety Lever plus many other ‘’R’’ marked parts! WOOD SET: Also it still has an Original WWII Full-Pistol grip ‘’C’’ Stock that was un-questionably Factory Cut/Machined for the special ‘’Sniper Bolt’’! So Original is this stock that it still has its original faint but still visible Remington Factory 1943 Cartouche of ‘’RA, BOXED FJA, ORDNANCE WHEEL, CROSSED CANNONS’’! Also on the Pistol Grip front area is the original WWII Factory ‘’CIRCLE P’’ Proofing still partly visible plus totally intact, deep, sharp and clear are all the original Remington Factory Assembly Proofs on its lower forearm just in front of the trigger housing from 1943! NOTE: Another important Historical FACT, is that to further signify its most Historical Snipers past is the ‘’AA’’ Arsenal marking of Anniston Army Arsenal Anniston, AL and on the front Pistol Grip area is the Arsenal ‘’P’’ Proofing! ALL Arsenal markings are perfect! These all verify and Document the Snipers Historical past and from where it was Re-Arsenaled, Stored and an Arsenal finally shipped to its owner in January 1999. The Wood Condition simply shows expected storage/handling marks rates at appx. Arsenal excellent+ with both stock and hand guard matching nicely in all respects (wood, coloring, grain, fit, finish and tightness) all easily told to be original to each other! Also there are no repairs, cracks or messing with and all 3 pieces match perfectly in all respects all easily seen original to each other! PLUS this is indeed an original Full-Pistol Grip Remington Model 1903/A4 ‘’Sniper C’’ Stock easily seen not only by all the above, but also in the Remington Factory 1943 special machine cut out (not hand cut out) for the Sniper Bolt Handle! Scope Base, Rings, Scope Set: The Original WWII Remington Factory Scope Base also is the original ‘’Green’’ color and rates the same as the rifle at 99% and is perfectly marked ‘’REDFIELD’’ on its right rear side! *The Original Scope Rings are indeed the Original Military Parkerized set and Original ‘’Green’’ coloring rates the same as the rifle at 99% and even all 3 screws and their slots are simply superb! The Original Scope is indeed the Original WWII Military Weaver ‘’M73B1’’ variation and perfectly marked ‘’TELESCOPE M73B1 over STOCK NO. 759931 over TELESCOPE NO. over 7635029’’ on its adjustment plate. The Scopes Original Factory ‘’Blued’’ Finish other that minor expected sliding marks from adjusting the Scopes comfortable ‘’eye relief’’ distance from the shooter eye when targeting rates at 98%+ with absolutely NO touch-up or cleaning! It also has Perfect optics and adjustments. Today this is a very hard to find original WWII Military ‘’M73B1’’ Scope, PLUS as are ALL the other parts/pieces of the entire WWII Complete ‘’Scope Set’’! ALL are absolutely beautiful, easily matching the Rifles metal condition itself in unequaled very high % condition! This is with out a doubt one of the finest surviving ‘’M73B1’’ Scopes there is! Even the optics surprisingly are perfect as are the adjustments. Rarely are any Weaver Scopes found with this nice optics/adjustments. This totally 100% Original U.S. WWII Military ‘’M73B1’’ Scope SET was originally purchased through the ‘’DCM’’ by the owner, as the Sniper was sold complete with mount assembly less only the Scope Set (Per the original DCM Sales receipt (seen in picture) ACCESSORIES: This Sniper comes totally complete with its Scarce Original Military WWII Leather Lens Cover Set (not the later more common Plastic set). Condition overall is about VG+ however typically with its age (now appx 79+ years old) the Leather strap is brittle and has broke loose at one end from one cap (as seen in picture) Both Original Leather Caps are excellent! (The strap is easily repaired at any shoe shop or leather repair shop). It also comes further complete with its excellent Original (but later variation) Military ODSling. DOCUMENTATION/ PROVENANCE: Everything is Documented on the Anniston Army Arsenal ‘’Form 1348-11 Aug 61 Release/Receipt Document’’! This form lists everything, SN owner, Addresses, Etc.! The Original owner was a Military ‘’Major William R. Hook’’ from Lincoln, Nebraska! Also importantly ALL the Original ‘’DCM’’ Sale information is still 100% Intact with nothing removed or lined out! This is another BIG Historical + as we are usually asked to remove or line out all Personal Information from all Documents. *A SPECIAL HISTORICAL NOTE: Everything Totally coincides with/checks out entirely with this Sniper in not only its Original Anniston Army Depot Sales Paper/Receipt BUT ALSO checks out Totally with all its Original Stock Markings entirely! HISTORY/USE: What a great piece of U.S. WWII Sniper History this is! The WWII Remington Model 1903/A4 Snipers were with out a doubt one of most rugged/famous Snipers of all time and saw much distinguished service through all WWII Theaters also Service during the Korean War and a few even into Vietnam! It simply covers all aspects of our Military History! Price: $6,495.00 SOLD Manufacturer: Remington Model: 1903/A4 Serial Number: SN Z4002751 |
