11-43 PRODUCTION US WWII REMINGTON M1903A4 SNIPER RIFLE, WITH CORRECT EARLY M73B1 SCOPE, EXTREMELY RARE NO POST WWII INSPECTION MARKINGS.
In excellent war carried non-re-worked condition we have a top example of a very early November 1943, 11 month (3rd Block) production US Army WWII Sniper Rifle, the M1903A4 Springfield Rifle as made by Remington. This one has a November, 1943 dated barrel and the bore is mint. The rifle is in factory original condition and has not been rebuilt re-inspected or overhauled post war. It was said to have been a vet brought back rifle and has been in mycollection since the 1980’s. The rifle is still in the Remington Factory original condition and it has not gone through any post war arsenal rebuild or inspection; it retains its original WWII configuration including the leather scope lense protector! The barrel is 2 groove. The bolt, swivels.etc are all marked R.
The scope is a very early type 2a Weaver M73b1 scope that is textbook correct. The scope has crystal clear optics. Everything on this specimen is textbook correct. While not the most glamorous sniper rifle of WWII, these rifles were very dependable and accurate, and in fact they continued to serve in combat right into Vietnam. This proves the soundness of the rifle and the scope. You would be hard pressed to find a finer and more original example for your collection.
