WW2 Remington M1903 Model of 1943 Rifle in .30-06 Caliber
** Nice 1903 Example **
Description: This Remington Model 1903 is a very nice example of this legendary U.S. battle rifle that could be used as a representative piece in a collection as well as a great shooter. It was built in 1943 during World War 2 and was more than likely issued and used in combat, and then returned into the U.S. Militay's inventory and sent thru the U.S. Arsenal system where it has been rebuilt and/or inspected two times. We know this from the markings on the stock, in particular the 3 "P" stamps on the bottom of the stock's wrist. One of these arsenals was Springfield, the other was the Red River Arsenal. There is no way to know whether it was actually rebuilt twice, or just rebuilt once and inspected and tested on the 2nd trip thru. What we do know is that it is a very nice rifle now with an excellent bore. The barrel is an original High Standard replacement barrel dated 8-44 and has an excellent bore. We measured the throat and muzzle and they gauged a "2" at both ends, indicating that this gun has been fired very little since the action was rebarreled. The arsenal applied parkerized finish is in excellent condition overall. It has a very pleasing green hue to it that is consistent on all of the metal parts. The stock and handguard are also in excellent condition. The wood is free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage on both the handguard and stock. The stock still shows a nice boxed "S.A." over "G.A.W." (Springfield Arsenal over inspector's initials for George A. Woody)cartouche on the left side and an "RRA-C" (Red River Arsenal) on the right side. All of the stock hardware is intact and in excellent shape. All of the controls on the rifle are in perfect working order including the rear sight. The action works smoothly without any slop in it and the bolt turns into battery perfectly. If you have been looking for an attractive WW2 U.S. 1903 rifle for your military weapons collection that you can also take to the range, this example would be a perfect choice.
