The 22” barrel uses ultra-precise 5R rifling to provide perfect shot placement on the target. This 700 BDL uses the Timney Impact 700 trigger, which is factory set between 3 and 4 lbs. in pull weight. It is not adjustable. Magazine capacity is 4 rounds plus one in the chamber. The floor plate is hinged so that, if necessary, the cartridges can be dumped all at once rather than having to be cycled through the action one at a time. Combined with the classic .30-06, the BDL would make an excellent long-range hunting rifle. The .30-06 was originally introduced in 1906 as an upgrade from the .30-03. It featured a slightly shorter case (63 mm vs the original 64.5 mm) and a modern Spitzer bullet instead of the older, heavier round nose bullet. The .30-06 valiantly served the United States Armed Forces through two World Wars, the Korean War, and dozens of small military actions before being replaced as the primary U.S. issue rifle cartridge by the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge in the late 50s.
