Remington Model 700 Custom Varmint .222 Remington with scope
Description: This was to be my dream prairie dog rifle that I built and never got to hunt with. The basic design is a flat bollom forend to be rested on a wide flat front rest and can easily slide over to the next prairie dog with out having to move the front rest. I have used this design for years and it is fantastic. This rifle I had built on a Remington Model 700 EtronX polished stainless steel action converted to standard center fire. Acton trued and blueprinted and Kiff straight long bolt handled added. Chambered for the .222 Remington cartridge with a neck tight enough just to accept factory loads but not require neck turning. This is because the standard .222 Remington in my opinion has a better accuracy potential than the .223. The barrel is a Lilja stainless. Trigger is a Jewell. Polished Stainless trigger guard. Leupold stainless Dual Dovetail Mounts and a Leupold Silver VX-3, 6.5-20x40 Long Range side focus 30mm scope with Varmint Hunters Reticle and silver sun shade extension. The paint job on this stock ( $250.00 worth) is premium automotive paint faded from coral on top to gold on the bottom. I can not remember the name of the stock manufacture but I think it is McMillan. When I first got the gun I went to the range to break in the barrel. I shot a number of rounds and cleaned after each shot. Now for those of you that have not done that it makes for a very long boring morning. I quit after ten shots and then shot the three shot group in the photos. The load was with Remington factory new brass, CCI Bench Rest Primers, 2230 powder and a Sierra 53 grain match bullet. I went home and that was it. Never shot the gun again. A total of 13 rounds through it. The overall condition of this rifle is "AS NEW". This rifle will ship for $35.00 in the lower 48 states. The answer to all of you that have asked is YES. It could be very easily rechambered to .223.
