Remington Model 722 Bolt Action Rifle in .244 Remington with Factory 26 Inch Barrel made in March of 1956

We offer you a “Hard to Find” Remington Model 722 Bolt Action Rifle in .244 Remington with a 26” Barrel made in March of 1956. This 66 year old Remington model 722 is chambered in .244 Remington caliber. The .244 Remington was renamed to the 6mm because it was not a commercial success. The .244 Remington was competing at the same time with the .243 Winchester, which Winchester won in popularity race. Regardless the .244 Remington and 6mm Remington are the identical cartridge only the name was changed. This model 722’s 26 inch barrel has an excellent bore with no issues. The finish shows wear, marks and light freckling. The rear sight was removed and it wears just the base of William’s receiver sight. There are no modifications to the metal on the rifle. The stock is in very fine condition with no light use marks as a few dings as shown. It has a fine trigger but the bolt release is a little sticky. A good cleaning should be done on the rifle since it has been sitting for over 35 years that we know of. The left side of the barrel is marked “REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC., ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. / PAT. NO. 2,473,373 OTHERS PENDING – 244 REM.”. Near the receiver is marked “Proof mark AC 30”. The left side of the receiver is marked “383881 REMINGTON / MODEL 722”. On the right side of the barrel are the “Remington proof R.E.P. in an oval” followed by the proof marks. The bolt is hand scribed with the matching serial number “383881”. The barrel channel is stamped “244” indicating an original stock since these came with a 26 inch barrel. This will be shipped fully insured UPS Ground to your FFL for $55. It will be shipped in a double walled foam lined cardboard box that we have manufactured for us so that your gun arrives safe. Payment to be made by USPS Money Order or Cashier’s Check.
