Remington Model 81 Woodsmaster — .30 Remington
For sale is a classic Remington Model 81 Woodsmaster chambered in .30 Remington. The Model 81 is one of Remington’s great early semi-automatic sporting rifles and is based on John Browning’s long-recoil operating system. Produced from the mid-1930s through 1950, the Woodsmaster has become a desirable collectible for fans of vintage Remington rifles, early American autoloaders, and old-school deer rifles.
This example is chambered in .30 Remington, Remington’s rimless cartridge that offers performance in the same general class as the .30-30 Winchester while being designed for Remington’s repeating rifles. The rifle features the classic takedown-style barrel assembly, fixed box magazine, steel receiver, original-style wood furniture, and traditional sporting rifle profile.
Condition is consistent with a used vintage firearm. The metal shows honest age, finish wear, light spotting, and patina throughout. The wood has visible handling marks, scratches, small dings, and wear from use, but presents well and gives the rifle the kind of character collectors like to see on a period hunting rifle. The receiver markings remain visible, including “The Woodsmaster Model 81" and the Remington address/patent markings. The barrel is clearly marked “.30 REM."
This is a great piece for the collector, Remington enthusiast, or hunter who appreciates early semi-auto sporting rifle history.
