RARE Antique E. REMINGTON Cartridge Conversion New Model REVOLVING RIFLE
Fewer than 1,000 Made, Chambered for .38 Rimfire
Description: RARE Antique E. REMINGTON Cartridge Conversion New Model REVOLVING RIFLE Fewer than 1,000 Made, Chambered for .38 Rimfire Here we present an antique E. Remington & Sons Cartridge Conversion New Model Revolving Rifle, manufactured circa 1866-1879 in Ilion, New York. Remington quickly saw that cartridge, not percussion, guns were the way of the future, and beginning in 1872, offered the guns as “cartridge conversions” around the time of the expiration of Smith & Wesson’s patent on bored through cylinders, making it less expensive to build and market guns with that technology. The new cartridge guns converted the chamberings from .36 percussion to .38 rimfire, and from .44 percussion to .46 rimfire. According to Flayderman’s Guide, fewer than 1,000 are thought to have been made. Built on the frame of the New Model revolver series, these petite rifles would have been handy from the saddle and would have had interchangeable ammunition with a handgun. This one features a short and slender 24-1/8 inch octagonal barrel chambered in .38 Rimfire. This line was initially made in the percussion firing system. This one was most likely made or converted at the factory in this configuration to accept metallic rimfire cartridges. The overall condition is very good. Some original blue with a gray/brown patina throughout. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The fancy walnut stock has nice grain and remains solid throughout. Here is a true Remington rarity for your collection! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 24-1/8 inches. Caliber: .38 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $6000 #240176 SOLD Antique: Yes |
