Description: REMINGTON Antique ARGENTINE CONTRACT Model 1879 ROLLING BLOCK Export Rifle Late 19th Century Remington Export with BAYONET! Here we present an antique Remington Argentine Contract Model 1879 Rolling Block Rifle made circa 1879 in Ilion, New York. This example is one of the many “export” rifles made for foreign governments. Around the late 1800s Argentina was a developing world power and had one of the largest economies in the world. Like any growing power, it needed arms, and as there were not yet local producers up to the task, they contracted out for their weaponry. They would later replace the rolling blocks with the more modern Argentine Contract Mauser rifles towards the end of the 1800s. This one comes with an original Weyersberg of Solingen made Saber Bayonet which is unit marked “55B.1035” on the guard. The overall condition is very good. This rifle and bayonet have been nicely refinished in blue. The action is excellent. The bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. The stock is solid. The bayonet is in great shape. A nice example of a Remington Rolling Block! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 35 inches. Caliber: .43 Spanish Overall condition as seen in photos.
