Remington, Carlos Gove altered, 44-77 caliber
Description: This rifle I bought damaged. The barrel from forend out had been in a fire. The barrel and action is all I had. I worked about a year as health and time allowed. Had to draw file the barrel from forend out. Made a rear sight as close to original as possible. Installed a period front sight. The action was in pretty good shape needed some cleaning. Took a week to get frozen extractor out, replaced it. Installed new wood, poured new pewter forend, added new ramrod and made and soldered new ramrod thimbles on barrel. Installed period butteplate. I would rate the bore a 4 with pitting about a foot out. The bore is pretty nice from forend to muzzle. The barrel had the Gove round final. I found a Gove of this design sold for 27k on one of the big sites. ( It was in much better shape and all original.) I restored it to as close to a well used original as possible from my perespective. 75.00 registered mail shipping to lower 48 Antique: Yes Rifle Caliber: .44-77 Manufacturer: Remington/Carlos Gove Bore Info: Very shootable Chambers: 44-77 Condition: Good Bore Condition: 4 Sights: Gove/style Price: $3,300.00 Buy Now Contact Seller |
