Remington Model 14-A Pump-Action Sporting Rifle
Description:
John Pedersen worked for Remington Arms and for the United States Government. Renowned Well for the "military Pedersen device", he also designed numerous sporting firearms; as well as Remington's ONLY 'House-Brand' Semiautomatic pistol, the 'Model 51'.
In 1908, Pedersen was assigned by Remington, the task of designing a rifle that would compete with the Winchester Model 1894 lever action rifle. He chose
a pump-action center fire carbine to go against the lever action. A peculiar choice, and hence the Model 14 / 14-A was born.
The results however, were undeniable and it quickly gained favor with sportsman and shootists alike.
The Model 14's design incorporated several innovative concepts: a spiral magazine tube to prevent bullet tips from contacting the primer of the cartridge in front of them,
loading through an opening in the magazine itself, it's accuracy and it's famous take down' ability.
Availble in many calibers, this Model 14 is chambered in 35 rem. The Model 14s were produced between 1913 - 1950, with this model made in a limited 2700 production run in 1921.
