WHITNEY REMINGTON NO. 2 ROLLING BLOCK .44-40 CAL. OCTAGON 28” SPORTING RIFLE CIRCA 1881. All original and complete in excellent condition. Upper tang addressed “WHITNEY ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN, CT. U.S.A.” Much original blue and case hardening mixed with very pleasing patina overall. Has all the original finish on the stock and forend with light use. Perfect working order and excellent bore. Scarce small frame Whitney chambered for the .44-40 Winchester cartridge.
