Remington Model 30-S Express Bolt Action in 30-06
Description: COLLECTOR Quality, Remington Model 30-S Express, serial #21024 in very good condition with a few, very small marks on the butt stock. Bore is bright, shiny with no rust, and no wear. Bolt has the correct serial number on it. Barrel, has a very faint 21 on it, but can only be seen with a microscope. Made between 1930 and 1940, the Model 30-S was sold as an affordable hunting rifle ($22 then, $750, in todays money) during the Depression, however they didn't scrimp on the quality in any way. With onlly 3000 sold, this beautiful rifle was sturdy and well made from inventory on hand which was made on contract to the British as P-14 Lee/Enfield service rifles. However, with the entry of America into WW1, and the Springfield 1903 rifle in short supply, the Enfield contract was scrapped, leaving Remington with Lee/Enfield receivers and barrels. These led Remington to produce the Remington Model 30 bolt action rifle in several calibers. The accuracy of the Lee/Enfield rifles has never been in doubt; add to that the quality of Remington workmanship, the Model 30-S Express was the epitome of perfection! Fitted with the Lyman 48 sight, it's accuracy was guaranteed. This Model 30-S Express looks like someone just put it in the closet and forgot about it. My M1 Garand was found in a VFW closert, where it stayed for 40 years, and it was like new. When I took these pictures, I did it outside and any little dots you see are caused by pollen. Years ago I started a collection of early sporting rifles like, Sedgley which led me to acquire this 30 -S Express long ago; while I've grown old, it never aged at all.
