The Model 600 was notable for having a vent rib and shark-fin front sight, as well as for being a light-weight bolt rifle for use in heavy brush or long-distance trekking. It was available in 222 Remington, 223 Remington, 243 Winchester, 6mm Remington, the famous 350 Remington Magnum and a few others. The 673 was introduced in the early 2000s chambered for a few the original chamberings as well some of Remington’s new short-action cartridges. This rifle is chambered for Remington’s 300 SAUM (Short-Action Ultra Magnum). This is a very powerful cartridge suitable for use against even the heaviest North American game. The barrel and receiver tang (upper) were worked on at some point to remove a large amount of rust. The result is that the mid-section of the barrel and part of the receiver have little or no finish remaining. A bluing touch up would not be difficult to do. Alternatively, in the barrel’s case, a professional could remove it from the receiver and re-blue the entire part. In any case this is a workman’s rifle not a collector piece as the 600s have become.
