Fine WW1 Remington US Model 1917 Enfield Rifle .30-06
Description: Serial #538681, .30-06, 26" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome rifle that has a 9-18 dated, "R" marked barrel and all Remington-marked parts. The metal has retained 92-95% of the original blue finish, with some trace silvering at the muzzle, along some of the raised edges, and on the bearing surfaces of the bolt. The markings are crisp and clear, and the "R" marked stock and handguard are likewise in excellent condition, with only minor handling marks and minor blemishes scattered about the added varnish finish. The eaglehead inspection proof on the left side of the receiver was intentionally obscured at some point, probably when the rifle was removed from government stores and transferred to either a military fraternal organization, or school judging by the added rack number plaque on the heel of the butt ("24"). Additionally, the rifle is fitted with a Model 1907 type leather sling that is in excellent, little-used condition. This is a splendid example of a Model 1917 Enfield, and is in fine-near excellent condition. FFL or C&R SOLD |
