Description: Remington-Keene navy marked. Anchor stamp. US stamp and wwk inspector stamp. The story I got was the great grandfather was in the navy in New York stationed on the uss Michigan. He got out of the navy around 1900. Purchased a farm in northern kossuth county Iowa and headed west to ocean of flat farmable land in Iowa with the rifle, how he ended up with it may be questionable but anyway. The stock has been cracked and repaired at some point. Something about a mule problem and out of ammo? And it was shortened to carbine length either by a navy machinist or a smith but it is surprisingly well done. This old girl has seen a lot of history and is ready for a new caretaker.
