Remington Model 12 Early Rifle Pre-Model Designation 22 Short/Long/Long Rifle
Description: ***** SALE PENDING GREG IN KS ***** SERIAL NUMBER: 306334. BARREL: 22". CALIBER: .22 S-L-LR. MANUFACTURED 1915. Designed to combat sales with Winchester Models 1890 and 1906. Standard takedown model, no wobble to frame/takedown tight, with matching serial numbers and typical markings. Blade front sight with ivory bead and u-notch rear with elevation adjustment screw, both original and correct. Correct Marbles tang sight added, is all there and functions but has a little damage to the knurled screws. Original blued finish has faded to 10% patina on the barrel and mag with 95% bright original blue at the first 2" of the mag tube where it's not worn by the pump action; receiver 35% plummy patina. Checkered hard rubber logo butt plate. CONDITION: Metal is good overall, with faded bluing. Wood has light scrapes and scratches, still tight and even with the metal, a tiny 1/2" very tight split forming behind upper tang, otherwise no damage. Bore is good, with strong rifling and some scattered pitting, no big craters or rings, should spin a bullet just fine. Mechanically fine, pump is strong, feeds and ejects, mag tube locks tightly, push button safety works as designed. Classic early Remington pump .22 that is sure to increase in value over time as a collector's item with Ilion-made Remingtons now a thing of the past. Grades NRA Very Good.
