I am offering for sale a little used Remington Model 572 A “Fieldmaster” slide-action rimfire repeating rifle. The Model 572 rifle was modeled after the commercially successful Remington Model 870 shotgun, one of the best-selling shotguns in history. Model 572 was introduced in 1954, with the lighter weight Model 572 Fieldmaster version offered in 1957. According to online information, production of the Model 572 A Fieldmaster ended by 1987, although the Model 572 BDL continued to be made until 2020 when Remington filed for bankruptcy. The 572 series of pump-action rifles was reliable, durable and of a popular design. The rifle is of the hammerless style and is chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle cartridges, fed from an under-barrel tubular magazine. Magazine capacity is 15 rounds for .22 LR, 17 rounds for .22 L and 20 rounds for .22 Short. The rifle has the factory-original receiver grooved for scope mounts. A crossbolt safety is located at the rear of the trigger guard; a front tab when depressed will unlock the forend. Overall length of the rifle is 42 inches with a barrel length of 23 inches. Beautiful walnut buttstock and slide-action grooved forend with fine low-gloss finish. Satin dark finish on the metal. Barrel bore is bright with crisp rifling. Original black Remington buttplate. Front sight is a polished steel bead on a drift-adjustable blade, while the rear sight is a step adjustable “U” notch. According to date code “XY”, this rifle was produced in December 1974. I have not fired the rifle; the pump action chambers and ejects practice rounds. This Model 572 A is in very good overall condition and will be an asset in your collection and fun to shoot.
