1953 Vintage Remington Targetmaster Model 510 Smoothbore for .22 Shotshells
** 100% Original Example ** SOLD
Description:
Manufactured from 1939 until 1962, the single shot .22 caliber Remington Targetmaster Model 510 rifle was offered in 6 different variations during the production run. This particular variation is the Smoothbore version designed to fire .22 caliber shotshells effectively at pests or Mo-Skeet minature clay targets. This Remington Targetmaster Model 510 bolt-action single-shot was manufactured in 1953 and features a factory blue finish on all of the metal parts, a 24" inch round barrel with a smooth shotgun-like bore, no rear sight, a silver bead shotgun-style front sight, a smooth American Walnut stock with a Remington-branded buttplate, a right-side mounted thumb safety, and a polished bright bolt with a chrome-plated bolt handle and red-painted cocking indicator. The barreled action is held in the stock with one large flathead screw for easy disassembly and cleaning. This example is 100% original and has not been modified or "improved" in any way, it is in the exact same configuration it left the factory in. The original factory blue finish shows an aged brown-blue patina and some light finish wear but is still very attractive overall. The polished bolt is still bright and clean, and the plated bolt handle shows only some minor speckling and finish wear mainly concentrated on the bottom of the knob. The Routledge bore is mirror-bright and clean, free from any pitting or imperfections of any kind. The original stock on this Targetmaster is in very good condition overall, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage. The wood shows only some minor handling marks and scratches with no eyesores or bad spots. All of the stock hardware is in great shape, including the checkered black plastic factory Remington buttplate which is perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the wood. The action on this Targetmaster smoothbore is slick and smooth, and the bolt turns into battery perfectly and locks up tight with no slop. All of the controls are in perfect working order and this Remington should function 100% like the day it left the factory. This .22 caliber Remington Targetmaster Model 510 Routledge bore would be a great addition to any .22 caliber rifle collection and should be a great long-term investment piece.
