Remington was so swamped with requests to reintroduce the Model 541-S a couple of years after discontinuing it that they reintroduced the rifle with several small changes in 1986 and called it the Model 541-T. The Model 541-T was made from 1986 to 1999 and are well-known for their excellent build quality and superb accuracy. The 541-T was offered in a standard weight or heavy weight barrel that was 24" inches long with no iron sights and featured the same action as the "S" model in a satin-finished and checkered American Walnut stock with a black forend tip, pistol grip cap, and buttplate. The rifle came from the factory with a beautiful gloss blue factory finish on all of the metal, and a plastic 5-round detachable box magazine. The condition of this particular 1989-manufacture Model 541-T is excellent overall with 98% plus of the factory gloss blue finish remaining and a minty bright bore. The rifling in this Remington still looks new with sharp lands and grooves and no visible wear or imperfections. The satin-finished Walnut stock is also in excellent condition overall with no cracks, heavy wear, or major damage. The only negatives that we can find in the wood are a tiny repair of the toe where a little 1/4" inch chunk of wood has been glued back in place, and a few little scattered dings in the wood likely from storage in a crowded safe. The checkered panels are still crisp and clean, and all of the stock hardware including the factory black forearm tip, the factory checkered black plastic pistol grip cap, and factory checkered black plastic buttplate are in excellent condition and perfectly tight to the wood. The action on this Remington is slick and precise, it turns into battery perfectly. All of the controls are in perfect working order on this rifle and the trigger is excellent, breaking with a light pull with no grit, slop, or excessive travel. Remington certainly did an excellent job on their factory trigger in this model. This Remington comes with a set of Redfield bases and 1" inch rings already mounted up and ready for a scope, and 1 factory 5-round magazine. We do have one additional factory 5-round and one 10-round magazine available for an additional cost to the new owner if interested. If you have been looking for a classy and high-quality American-made .22 bolt action rifle for your collection this 1989-vintage Remington 541-T would be a superb choice. Not only will this gun continue to be an excellent investment with proper care, but you can take it out and proudly show it off to your fiends while shooting bullseyes at the range.
