Early Solid Frame Remington No. 4 Rolling Block Boy's Rifle

Description:
Serial #73401, .22 LR, 22 ½ inch octagon barrel with a good bore having light roughness and very good rifling. This is the Remington Model No. 4, solid frame, Rolling Block action rifle built circa 1890-1900. The barrels show 40-45% thinning blue with silvering on the edges toning to pewter-gray with scattered use marks. The frame is a mottled pewter gray with the hammer showing trace amount of original nitre blue. The stock shows a plug in the toe and is otherwise excellent as is the forearm. It is sighted with a flip up rear sporting and bead front sights. The action functions properly with the hammer locking into half and full cock but does require the hammer to be manually held open while opening the breech. A very nice solid frame Boy's rifle.
