Remington 512-X Rifle, .22 Short / Long / Long Rifle, 24" Barrel, 6 lbs
Description:
The Remington Model 512-X Sportmaster is a rare, vintage bolt-action rimfire rifle that was only produced between 1964 and 1966. It serves as the modernized, final iteration of the iconic 512 series, specifically distinguished by its shorter 24-inch barrel (reduced from the original 25-inch barrel), upgraded iron sights, and a factory-grooved receiver for easy scope mounting. It features a highly unique mechanism for its time: a smooth, bolt-action operation fed by an under-barrel tubular magazine. While most tube-fed firearms of the mid-20th century were lever or pump-actions, the Sportmaster offered high-capacity rimfire shooting in a rigid bolt-action platform. Because of its brief two-year production window, only 30,670 units were ever manufactured, making it a highly sought-after prize for vintage firearms. Built-in 3/8-inch tip-off dovetail grooves machined directly into the top of the receiver for optics. .22 Short/Long/Long Rifle
