REMINGTON M-12 .22 CAL. SMOOTH BORE

Description:
ONE OF THE RAREST MODEL 12 RIFLES I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED! THIS IS AN EARLY (APPROX. 1920 MFG.) GALLERY SPECIAL MARKED RECEIVER THAT WOULD NORMALLY BE IN .22 SHORT, BUT THIS ONE IS CHAMBERED AND STAMPED ON THE BARREL SIDE ".22 CAL. SMOOTH BORE." This is a super unusual rifle/shotgun in excellent condition overall that shows consistent very light wear and age on both the receiver and correct 24 1/2" round barrel, There is some light freckling and edge wear to the receiver and similar minor areas on the barrel and mag. tube, no provision for rear sight and only a small shotgun bead front sight, NO date proof stampings on the left side of the barrel ahead of the receiver as would be found on a later manufactured M-12 or M-121, standard two line Remington barrel address and patent dates beneath, generally fine+ stock and forend with only a couple of the usual thin and short age cracks coming back from the receiver that go nowhere, Remington marked crescent butt plate, tight action, mint bore, truly amazing condition for a "Garden Gun" most of which were kept in barns or by the kitchen door loaded with .22LR shot cartridges for dispatching small garden or barn pests without doing further damage that a solid bullet might do. First M-12 .22 Cal. Smooth Bore I've ever seen.
