The Remington Woodsmaster Model 740 is a gas-operated, semi-automatic rifle manufactured by Remington Arms between 1955 and 1960. Designed as a fast-handling hunting rifle, it achieved significant popularity among North American deer hunters but was produced for only five years before being succeeded by the Model 742.
