Description: Nice condition Remington Model 8 semi auto rifle in caliber 30 Remington. This rifle has the correct Lyman #2 locking tang sight (these have been selling for upwards of $200 by themselves), a special order feature. Remaining features are standard - plain walnut stocks, original open sights, 5 shot non-removable box magazine, bolt release on lower left of receiver, blued finish, hard rubber shotgun style butt plate, and 22" round barrel. Original blue has turned a mix of patina and plum with some brighter blue near the muzzle end of the barrel. Action is tight and has solid lock up. Bolt release works properly. Tang sight works properly as well. Butt stock has a tight crack coming off upper tang, about 2" long, otherwise the stocks are in very good condition. There is some light spattering of white paint on the butt stock and butt plate that could be carefully removed if you choose. Bore is very good with well-defined rifling, somewhat gray but no pitting, very light frost. I'd rate it a 7.5 of 10 and certainly shootable. This one carries serial number 32943. There are the letters "K" and "N" by the serial number which should be the date codes since there are no letters on the barrel, making this a May 1922 production. The Model 8 was produced from 1906 to 1936, with about 60,000 produced. With the Remington factory officially closed (it's about 45 minutes from my house), any Ilion-made Remington is now a collector's prize and will steadily climb in value over time.
