Description: REMINGTON “New Model” ROLLING BLOCK Model Number 4 .22 S, L, LR Rifle C&R Made in the Early-1900s with Octagonal Barrel Here we present a C&R Remington Rolling Block Model 4 Rifle in .22, made circa the early 20th Century in Ilion, New York. Production on the Number 4 began in 1890 and had a production run that continued until 1933. In 1901, the “Takedown” feature was introduced and continued until the end of the production in 1933. There was a total of approximately 356,000 of these rifles produced. This rifle is the classic “boy’s” rifle. It was also Remington’s smallest and lightest Rolling Block. The later “takedown” rifles handily broke down into two pieces with just the flip of a lever, which changed over to a screw in 1926. Being a single shot, it naturally instills the “make your one shot count” mentality from a young age. The overall condition is near fine. Original blue finish with case colors. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with nice rifling. The stock is smooth and solid. This is a great little rifle for a youth! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
