Remington Model 16 Semi-Auto Rifle 22 Rem Auto 1915 C&R 2nd Year
Description: Serial #4936, .22 Rem Auto, 22 inch barrel with a very good frosted bore with strong rifling. This is the Remington Model 16 A Standard Grade autoloading rifle manufactured in 1915, the second year of production. Manufactured to compete with the Winchester 1903 rifle this proprietary cartridge shooting rifle saw relatively small numbers produced in it's 15 year span from 1914 to 1929 with total production at 17,728. This example retains about about 85-90% of the original blue on the barrel and frame showing heavy patches of freckling with light scratches and other use marks giving a slightly mottled overall look. The original walnut stock and Schnabel tip forearm are solid, free of any cracks or chips with some mild use marks visible under a later added varnish. The original magazine tube is present in the butt stock and the original Remington sights are present. Mechanically it functions properly. A very good plus example of this scarce Remington rifle.
