Remington Model 30A Express in .35 Remington

Description:
Offered for sale is a Remington 30A Express rifle in .35 Remington, serial number 10200, made between 1926 and 1930. The rifle has a 22 inch round barrel, gold bead front sight and adjustable buckhorn rear sight. The stock is oil finished American walnut in one piece with hand checkered grip and forend. The factory buttplate is of forged steel with extension to protect the toe of the stock. The rifle has a NOS Lyman 48R peep sight for which the receiver was factory drilled. The sight was professionally fitted by Clint Meier (CGM Gunstock Checkering) to replace a poorly fitted Pacific sight that was on the rifle when I bought it about 15 years ago. The rifle also has the factory sling eyes in the buttstock and forend.

The rifle is in excellent overall condition. The wood and finish are original with no gouges or chips. The bluing is original and remains at about 95% (including the bottom metal), with no pitting or scratches. There are no non-factory holes drilled anywhere on the rifle. The bore is bright and clean. The rifle seems to have been little used.

According to Ernie Schmidt (4th Quarter 2014 Remington Collector's Journal) only 22,378 examples of the Remington Model 30 were ever produced in all variations. Of this total, only 582 were in .35 Remington - 556 30A rifles and 26 30R carbines.
