Remington No. 1 Rolling Block Silhouette Sporting Rifle .45 GOVT
Description: Made in the early 2000’s by Remington Arms Company, this modern Remington No. 1 Rolling Block Silhouette Sporting Rifle were produced by Remington in the early 2000’s. Based on the action designed patented by Leonard M. Geiger rwho eventually worked for Remington, where he met inhouse designer Joseph Rider. The two brought the gun to market in 1866 w/ various improvements. The designis for a two-part, interlocking hammer and breech. Cock the hammer, roll the breech block back by a thumb lever that protrudes off the right side. This opens the breech and simultaneously extracts the spent case. After inserting a fresh cartridge, the breech block is rolled up to close, and the trigger is pulled to drop the hammer on the chambered round. This is a true No. 1 action size w/ a 1.250” width. It has a single stage trigger. The 30” barrel (28 3/4” outside the action) is round w/ a post/globe front sight and a tang mounted long range adjustable sight. The rifle is stocked in XXX Claro walnut in a Sporter style stock w/ a scalloped pistol grip and smooth “shotgun” butt and a Sporter style forend w/ scalloped steel forend tip. The forend and grip have hand cut checkering and are hand shaped. The butt plate, action, and forend tip were color case hardened by Turnbull and the barrel and other metal hardware in a deep Custom Shop blue finish.
