LONG DISCONTINUED, MADE IN U.S.A. HARRINGTON AND RICHARDSON ENGRAVED 1873 OFFICERS MODEL .45-70 TRAPDOOR
Description: LONG DISCONTINUED, MADE IN U.S.A. HARRINGTON AND RICHARDSON ENGRAVED 1873 OFFICERS MODEL .45-70 TRAPDOOR SPRINGFIELD REPLICA. These beautiful and faithful reproductions of the rare Springfield Officers Model rifles of the 1870s are top quality and the only Trapdoor replicas that were made in the United States. Some of these are now being made in Italy, but the quality of the H&R products are hard to beat. These were made with a case colored butt plate, lock, hammer, breech block, trigger guard, lower tang, receiver and barrel band. The top of the butt plate is scroll engraved as is the lock plate, hammer, breech block, barrel band, receiver ring, trigger guard and upper tang. The barrel is marked Harrington & Richardson, Inc. over Worcester, Mass. Made in the U.S.A. Like the originals it is fitted with a wiping rod mounted under the barrel that fits into a fancy pewter forend cap that is also engraved. Also like the originals, it is checkered at the wrist and on the forearm and fitted with a sporting tang sight mounted on the wrist and mated with a blade/bead front sight. The American walnut stock is oil finished and the barrel deeply blued. Bore is excellent and overall this one appears about like new. These were made in the 1970s and have a reputation for fine accuracy. They were intended for standard velocity/black powder equivalent factory ammo. Considering the quality and American manufacture, these are still a bargain, especially in this condition. SOLD Rifle Caliber: .45-70 Government Manufacturer: HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON Model: OFFICERS MOD. Serial Number: 4XXX Barrel Length: 26 Condition: LIKE NEW |
