SOLD Les Bauska’s Custom Bauska BBK-02 Rifle .338 Win. Mag. Excellent Plus

Les Bauska’s Custom BBK-02, .338 Win. Mag., 10 lbs. 2 oz., 14" LOP over a pad, 26" barrel, figured stock with fleur-di-lis checkering, cheekpiece, custom barrel with a step-down octagonal design with integral barrel mounted front sling eye, express sights with one fixed and two folding leaves transitioning to full length low-height vent rib into a ramp front sight, steel grip cap. Les Bauska built this rifle on his proprietary Bauska BBK-02 double square bridge magnum action with Model 70-type 3-position safety and signed the barrel. Bridges are grooved to accept Quick Detachable scope mounts.

The Bastogne Walnut stock has much feathered crotch figure and is shaped in the classic style with high comb without monte carlo and carved with the most exquisite fluer-di-lis checkering panels at 24 lpi that only a master stockmaker could do, including a total of ten (10) fluer-di-lis (2 on each pistol grip and 3 on each side of the forearm). In addition to the nicely sculptured cheekpiece with the right scale to the rifle, the forearm is fitted with genuine Ebony tip and a coved steel pistol grip cap. Accoutrements include a 7/8” Excelerator black rubber pad and two sling eyes in addition to the barrel mounted one giving the shooter the option of attaching the front sling swivel either to the barrel or to the forearm.

Condition: The wood is 100%, with sharp diamonds superbly cut - checkering 100%. Blue is 98% with some silvering at the edges of the muzzle and floorplate, which barely show.

About the Maker: Les Bauska was a master custom rifle, action, and barrel maker in Kalispel Montana. If you want a magnum double square bridge M98 action by an American maker, your choices are few: Ruger’s investment cast M77 Magnum, the Granite Mountain action, or this Bauska BBK-02 (forged from one piece of steel and machined). Les’ BBK-02 double square bridge magnum actions were held in high regard and there were standing orders from Gibbs and Holland & Holland when he ceased production upon his death. His Bauska BBK-02 action was purchased and produced for a time by Olympic Arms.

Obviously at this weight, this is a very solid and heavy .338 rifle but should be a great shooter. It's also a candidate to be rebarreled to a larger caliber as this action was intended to handle up to and including the .505 Gibbs.
